How to Achieve the Perfect Bikini Body

It’s coming up to summer, which means it’s that time of year again where all the diet adverts and ‘bikini body’ posts start flooding social media, like these ones infiltrating my Instagram feed at the moment.

It’s hard to avoid when your feeds are completely saturated. Now I’m all for being healthy – I eat my fruit and veg, I’m a regular(ish) gym goer, I don’t drink a huge amount of alcohol. I like my water and multivitamins. The problem I have with these adverts is that they aren’t about health. They are about unrealistic beauty standards and making people (women) feel like shit to make money.

Diet culture is toxic, and is a topic I want to focus on more at a later date.

If you have a body and you put it in a bikini, you’ve got yourself a bikini body. If you want to wear one, great. If you don’t, that’s cool too. Wear whatever the hell you want as long as you’re comfortable. Your happiness is the most important thing.

And if you are struggling, my advice is to try and do what I do. Remind yourself how amazing your body is and the opportunities it gives you to explore the world, take part in your favourite hobbies, and cuddle your favourite humans and animals. For everything you dislike about your body, think of something that it allows you to do. It’s not easy and it doesn’t make all those feelings go away, but doing this helps me to realise that my body is so much more than how it looks.

I’m taking my bikinis on holiday and I’m putting my body in them, and I’m going to have an amazing time while I’m at it.

That’s how I’m achieving my bikini body this summer.
