Hire Me

Are you interested in having me share my story or talk about mental health?

I have several years experience in public speaking to audiences of various sizes ranging from just a handful to hundreds of people, and have written for several different platforms. I have worked with adults and children alike and am able to tailor the content of my presentation to suit the age group I am delivering to. I have represented various organisations including Time To Change, Beat, Mind, University of Southampton and the NHS, and have spoken at schools, universities, youth clubs, health services and conferences nationally. It is my passion to raise awareness and reduce stigma around mental illness.

To date I have most commonly shared my own testimony, which includes my journey through mental illness including my diagnoses of anorexia and bipolar disorder. However, I have also given talks about mental health in general, eating disorders, self harm, my role as a mental health nurse, social media and various other connecting topics.

I also have a lot of writing experience which you can find examples of in various places across this blog.

I would love to continue to share my experiences, so if you are looking for somebody to deliver an honest and informative talk about mental health or to write for a publication, please get in touch using the Contact Me form or emailing me at cara.lisette@gmail.com.

Thank you!

Testimonials:

“Watching Cara speak at Story Camp was one of my highlights of the year.”

“Thank you so much for the gift of your time and infectious enthusiasm. You are a wonderful ambassador for your profession.”

It was definitely of use for my daughter and for me to hear Cara talk. It was good to listen to someone who has been through the disorder and hear how she felt and dealt with so many different things.”

‘Thank you so much for leading the workshop. It was so valuable to hear about your experiences and gave us such a better understanding of anorexia, rather than hearing it from a solely professional perspective. Thank you for being so open and honest with us – it’s probably the best workshop I’ve been to.’
