Morphée Sleep Aid Review

The lovely people over at Morphée very kindly gifted me one of their devices and I am absolutely obsessed with it.

The Morphée is a relaxation and sleep aid product which has 210 different options for various exercises and ambient sounds. It’s non digital so removes the blue light aspect that interferes with sleep, and the variety of different relaxation exercises is huge. There are various settings including being able to choose a male or female voice, and whether you would like it to last 8 or 20 minutes.

The three dials help to select the different options, and it comes with a booklet that helps you choose the right one for you and your needs. The left dial helps you to decide your theme – the options are: body scan, breathing, movement, visualisations, cardiac coherence, napping, relaxing music and nature sounds. Each of these then also has 8 different options, which you select with the right hand key. The bottom key lets you select the time you want to spend on it.

I haven’t tried all of the options yet but my favourite so far is definitely nature sounds – one of them is a purring cat which is – in my view – one of the most beautiful sounds in the world. I’ve also tried the visualisation option which was very relaxing. Next I plan to try some of the breathing exercises.

I have chronic sleep difficulties – I find it difficult to fall asleep and I am a very light sleeper so I wake a lot in the night. A lot of that is due to anxiety but I am also terrible at relaxing. I am not great at sleep hygiene and I often use my phone right up until I go to sleep which I know isn’t ideal. Last night I put on one of the nature sounds – Indonesian rain forest – and read for a short time. I fell asleep feeling calm which is unusual, and it didn’t feel like a particularly difficult or stressful experience which it often does.

I’m super grateful to have been able to try this out as somebody who does struggle with sleep so much and I know I’m going to get a lot of use out of it. Also, it’s really nice to look at and small so would be easy to transport if you were staying overnight somewhere or had a stressful event coming up that you needed to try some calming strategies before.
