Christmas Eve Activities

I have some fairly set Christmas traditions now, some of which have been a staple for a long time, and others I’ve introduced more recently.

Something I always do on Christmas Eve is watch The Nightmare Before Christmas; it’s been one of my favourite films since I was a child and I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve seen it. And yes, it is a Christmas film and not a Halloween film!

One of my more recent Christmas prep staples is baking. A few years ago I started making food for my family for Christmas, from cookies to truffles. Undoubtedly the best reaction I’ve had is when I made fudge, so this year I decided to make some more. I went with gingerbread (recipe here), Baileys (recipe here) and cookies and cream (recipe here), which I made before but was a clear favourite.

I also got my first ever Christmas Eve box today! I got new pyjamas and matching fluffy socks, nail varnish, bath caviar, chocolates and prosecco. I’ve actually not been very well this week with a bad cough and an ear infection, so I had to take a couple of days off work. Thankfully I feel a little better now and I think I’m over the worst of it, so this evening I’ve used my Christmas Eve box to my full advantage and engaged in some well deserved self care.

I hope you all have a lovely Christmas tomorrow! But if things are a tough for you right now, just remember that it’s only one day and that there are people to talk to if you need to.
